    Bible circa 1829 with accompanying note and lock of hair sealed in Mylar. Pocket size Bible with leather binding. Publisher: Towar and Hogan Philadelphia, PA. Inside a pencil note on ruled paper to Maggie (Sam Houston's daughter) dated April 26, 1882. A lock of reddish hair bound with thread was pressed inside. Very fragile with binding totally separated.     Mahogany veneer side chair with carved crest rail of a rose on top of a leaf pattern, column shaped splat, sabre legs. Horse hair seat cover. Restored by Lennox Scott in 1989. One of a set of dining room chairs which belonged to Sam Houston and descended to Maxian Neal Rubey through her maternal grandmother.

    Cherry candle stand owned by Sam Houston while he lived in Independence; tilt-top; tripod base with scroll feet; It is Empire-style patterned after a table owned by Andrew Jackson; circa 1855. Purchased at auction by The Heritage Society. It was passed down through Sam Houston’s granddaughter Mrs. C. R. Whittemore.
