Cherry candle stand owned by Sam Houston while he lived in Independence; tilt-top; tripod base with scroll feet; It is Empire-style patterned after a table owned by Andrew Jackson; circa 1855. Purchased at auction by The Heritage Society. It was passed down through Sam Houston’s granddaughter Mrs. C. R. Whittemore. |
