Letter from Sam Houston to his son Sam Houston, Jr, dated June 15, 1846. Two pages folded and handwritten on both sides. Admonishes Sam Jr to love his mother and grandmother and to be obedient. He is sending him some poetry that he may learn to recite. Pages are 4 ¾" x 7 ¼" Ink is faded through. Paper dark with age.

Wants Joshua to take care of the filly, as he may have to ride it to Wheelock for court. He is sorry to hear of the death of his pet. Two sheets folded. Written on both sides. Ink is faded through.
